Irvington Afternoon Book Discussion at Irvington Branch Library

Our book discussion is open to anyone who would like to join in either one time or regularly.  It is held the second Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. . It is a round-table discussion where all are encouraged to participate, lasting usually an hour to an hour and a half. One of two Library staff members leads it: Steve Bridge or Mike Hylton.  Books are selected by them with input from participants, usually one to two months in advance. They order in enough copies for the group so that the book for the next month can be passed out at each meeting. The Library keeps extra copies at the Information Desk so in case someone does not make a meeting, they can stop in anytime to check out the next book . The discussions are included on www.imcpl.org and the next book title is given there also.

For more information, visit the Irvington Branch Library's "Library Events And Classes" web page.  Be sure to click on "Book Discussions" in the "Category" field as well as the "Irvington Branch" in the "Location" field and select "Adults" in the "Age Level" field.     LINK

Book Discussion Groups And A Writer/Discussion Group at Bookmamas

Bookmamas hosts two book reading/discussion groups:

"Literary Ladies" generally meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.. This group reads and discusses books written by women or books with a female protagonist.

"Shared Pages" generally meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m... This group reads and discusses a wide variety of selections.

The only possible cost involved is that of purchasing the book to be discussed.  If you do not own a copy of the book to be discussed, Bookmamas can sell you a copy of it.

Bookmamas also hosts "Writers Speak Volumes", on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  This is a group for writers, or those interested in writing.

And lest we not forget, Bookmamas now hosts the "Mad Hatter Poet's Society" on the second Friday of each month at 7:00 p.m... This is an open mic for poets. Indiana poet Bob Henning guides this group.

Each of these groups is open to anyone interested in joining, participating, or even just listening.

Reception For Authors And Book Signings

Both Bookmamas and the Irvington Branch Library frequently host receptions for authors of newly-published works. Said receptions offer an opportunity for the reader to meet the author and, of course, if one chooses, the opportunity to purchase the work and have the author autograph it.
