| JOHN READLE |
|
John Readle has lived in Irvington since 1949; he has a past that is deeply interwoven in Irvington history. Mr. Readle attended IPS George W. Julian School #57 and IPS Thomas Carr Howe High School. He is the founder and a past Chairman of the Irvington Community Council. He was responsible for the re-establishment of the Irvington Halloween Festival and was a leader in the early revitalization efforts of the Irving Circle Park. After a lifetime of gainful employment in the union sheet-metal industry, Mr. Readle retired in 2000 --- only to go back to work for himself. He established his stained glass business at his home here in Irvington. In a short six years he has grown his business to that of being the second largest of its kind in Marion County. Mr. Readle’s company, “Custom Creations in Glass”, has successfully executed large stained glass commissions, such as those at the Beech Grove Public Library, the St. Paul Hermitage (also in Beech Grove), and the Concord Community Church in West Lafayette, to name just a few. His store and studio, located at 16 South Catherwood Avenue here in Irvington, sells all necessary stained glass supplies and tools to artists. He also teaches the art form and does custom commission work and repairs.
