As a child, Greg Griffin loved drawing --- mainly cars, houses, barns, and of course, pets.

When he began using paint, Mr. Griffin worked with watercolors until Junior high School.  His Junior high school art teacher persuaded him to try oils, but being impatient led him to the use of acrylics.  Growing up on a farm in west central Indiana meant chores and little time for his art.  So the use of acrylics eliminated having to wait on drying time and allowed him quicker clean up.  That began his love affair with acrylics.

Mr. Griffin’s love for houses and barns led to his working in construction and to him eventually becoming a general contractor.  He used his love for drawing to design remodeling projects for customers, including working floor plans and elevation drawings.

Toward the late 1970’s, interest rates climbed and construction fell off to the point where Mr. Griffin had to find other work.  He began working for an automotive parts manufacturer, which in time, led to his artistic abilities once again becoming part of his work.

During the next twenty years, he would do drawings and layouts for presentations for management and customers for product design changes, equipment, and tooling changes, along with drawing up plans for two major plant expansions and equipment layouts.

Mr. Griffin’s art now is mainly an escape from the cruelty and harshness of reality.  He tries to find the beauty around him and put it on canvas.

Throughout the years, many of Mr. Griffin's paintings have gone to family and friends; however, in 1993, he designed a T-shirt logo for the Italian Greyhound Rescue Association's annual picnic, and in 1994, he donated six paintings to the Indiana University Medical Center for an outpatient dialysis clinic.
