On 12-31-2010, The Irving Theater hosted its first annual New Year’s Eve Party. It was a “tasty” event.

Music was provided by Audio Diner and Weeds. Snacks were provided by the staff of The Legend Classic Irvington Cafe.

The theater was configured to handle the surprisingly large crowd with many comfortable chairs arranged around a large dance area.

The theater’s owners, Dale and Deb Harkins, were on hand all night, to ensure that everything went smoothly --- which it did.

Reasonably-priced snacks, soft drinks, beer, wine, and champagne were provided by three staff members of The Legend Classic Irvington Cafe; the snacks and service was excellent.

The cover charge was minimal, and, importantly, a sitter was on hand to both look after and provide fun activities for the little ones --- this meant that it could be (and was) a family-friendly event.

Our apologies to the opening act, Weeds --- we simply got there too late to hear their set (hence, that’s why no photos).

Audio Diner played a long and energetic set of popular songs from the 70s through the 90s (our only criticism is that they should have played some from the 00s).

The sound was crystal clear and not too loud or too soft.

Close to midnight, the band took a break and a live feed of the countdown from Times Square in New York City was displayed on a large screen (complete with sound) on the east wall of the theater.

A few minutes after the ball dropped, Audio Diner once again took the stage and played another long set.

At the close of evening (or should we say, “morning”), Kevin Friedly of Audio Diner thanked everyone for coming and advised that it is the intention for this to become an annual event.
